Pravnava is a 38 foot trimaran with a 25 beam and 50 foot stick that draws a fixed 4.5 feet of water. She is fast, very fast and was built for the 72 transpac race, and apparently also did the transpac in 74. Some documentation of the boat says that it was Robert Harris designed and that is what the previous owner believed. Robert Harris was contacted and after he reviewed some pics of Pravnava he was sure it was not one of his designs. While doing some digging we were able to find out the the boat was built by Bill Morris in Multihull City in L.A. We spoke with the builders wife, and she claims that Bill designed it. It looks very much like a few Kantola’s and is possible the builder used some Kantola design’s as a basis.
Pravnava has been stored out of the water on it’s own custom trailer at the Marina San Carlos dry storage area since 2012 but now, things will change due to the fact that there are new boat storage units available. There are some spare parts on the Yanmar 2gm diesel engine, which has a low 900 hours on it. Parts can be obtained at marine maintenance parts. The engine is raw water cooled and the cooling system needs to be flushed once in awhile. A fresh water flush has always been administered to the engine before storage but the owner recommends that the raw water system be thoroughly checked by new owner to make sure there are no overheating issues.
